We are professionals in the management and delivery of design and use knowledge from various disciplines to adapt a project to the needs of our customers.
We deliver the aspirations of our clients from feasibility study to concept design, from detailed design to interior architecture. We do this by listening carefully and researching the project task, prioritizing the client’s goals, providing inspiration and understanding the budget.
The team always works closely with the customer to develop and deliver design excellence in the planning, procurement and construction phases of a project.
We offer comprehensive architectural design, interior design and contract management services in areas such as hospitality, civic, cultural, residential, defence, education, commercial and industrial sectors
Our engineering team is highly experienced in a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, civic, industrial and education, but with specific specialist expertise in the defence sector and in marine structural, environmental and civil engineering. As part of our core offering, we offer flood risk services.
We strive for cost-effective solutions for all of our projects, but also for those that best meet the project objectives. We work with the wider team to achieve excellent results for interventions in more sensitive historical and natural environments, in order to maintain their values and minimize their impact.
Where innovation is needed, we provide expertise and guidance on appropriate strategies and the management of risk.
The engineering team can be expanded to cover building services, specialist survey and assess activities for a reassuringly comprehensive and integrated design team
Castria is an expert in managing change in the historic environment, with specialists in strategic heritage management, conservation practice and conservation engineering.
We are knowledgeable in methods of conservation and repair, are adept at creating creative and sustainable adaptation of heritage, and in introducing new structures and interventions sensitively within the historic environment.
The work we do for visual inspections, quadrennials and quadrennials is supplemented with the latest technology that supports our conservation work with 3D point cloud survey data, the use of drones and ground-based radars.
Masterplanning is fundamental to sustainable development, and we place great significance as a team on designs which involve the community in shaping the built environment. We are experienced in integrating urban design principles in all types of development, landscape design-led approaches, experiential design, low carbon strategies, community consultation and more creative engagement practice.

Our ISO 9001 integrated management system provides a structure to help all elements of our professional services meet the expectations of practice and our clients and maintain our reputation among our colleagues and other parties involved in our work.
OUR TEAM
Castria is an RIBA Certified Practice with Chartered Architects, AABC Registered Conservation Architects and a RICS Building Surveyor. We employ engineers trained in the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Structural Engineers.
As a team, we are quietly ambitious, with extensive experience and industry recognition for our work. All our staff undergo a programme of continued professional development. We are committed to maintaining the training of specialists in the preservation and engineering of heritage.
Working with schools, further and higher education on work experience and project-specific activities is crucial to what we do. We offer structured placements in all design disciplines and have recently completed the inaugural RIBA mentoring program with architects at Falmouth University.
